How to prepare yourself for a massage treatment?

The best time to have a massage is in the afternoon or early evening when you can make sure you won’t have to do any physically hard or stressful work later the same day.

Make sure you had your last meal at least 1 hour before your massage treatment.

Have a shower before your massage treatment, the oils (mostly grapeseed oil) we use will nourish your skin. You don’t need to wear any make-up, self tanning lotion or jewellery, or a hand watch. Your therapist will have better access to your skin and muscles for the treatment.

At mobile treatments make sure there is enough space for the massage table (approx. 3×4 m). When using a massage chair for a seated massage a smaller space is enough (approx. 2×2 m).

Since Covid19 pandemic I don’t use my own towels during mobile sessions. Please have 2 large bathing towels or sheets and 1 hand towel prepared for your treatment.

What to expect from a massage treatment?

Most treatments are skin-on treatments using oils but there are some clothes-on treatments with no oils such as chair massage, corporate massage. MLD and Indian head massage are skin-on treatments with no oils.

The massage table is cleaned before and after every treatment and is always covered with a large towel or sheet. The client is also covered during the treatment only revealing the body part the therapist is treating (ex. back, leg etc).  Communication and feedback is very important to us. Please tell at all times to your therapist if you are cold, if you don’t feel comfortable on the massage table or even if you need to use the bathroom during the treatment.

Some treatments need firm pressure. If you think it’s too painful, tell your therapist. Massage shouldn’t hurt.

Try to relax and give full control to the therapist. I only can work on relaxed muscles. For better and efficient relaxation I recommend to turn off or mute your phone, listen to relaxing music and have deep breaths. No worries about falling asleep. It happens more often than you’d think.

The therapists are professional and qualified people giving holistic treatments, nothing else should be expected. They would never treat the intimate parts (groin, breasts) and will make sure they are always covered during your treatment.

Massage can help you relax, stretch your muscles, but won’t make miracles. For better results it is recommended to have a regular massage treatment as a prevention for back pain, strained muscles, stress, headaches and many more. For a healthy adult one treatment per month is recommended.

If you have serious physical conditions or injuries please consult a physical therapist or your physician.

No alcohol or drugs should be used before the massage treatment. If they are still used, I will cancel the booking and won’t carry out the treatment.

Aftercare

Drink lots of water after your massage treatment. Even if you don’t feel it the treatment is equivalent to an average work out or exercise. It stimulates your blood circulation and activates your digestion and circulatory system which help detoxify your body, hence you need more water.

Massage has a better effect if you won’t do any hard work or exercise afterwards. The best is to relax or go straight to bed.
